Bobi Privacy Policy

Bobi is a personal assistant made of two parts: the Bobi app on your iPhone (and Apple Watch), and your brain, a small computer that belongs to you and runs Bobi's server. During this test, your brain is a mini PC set up for you by the Bobi team and kept in your home. Bobi has no central server and no account: what you say to Bobi and what your phone reports is stored on your brain, not on a Bobi server.

What is stored, and where

On your brain: your conversations with Bobi, what Bobi remembers about you, your plans, reminders and the places you save, the timeline of your day, and what your phone sends when you turn a feature on: location visits, motion, the Health data you choose (sleep, activity, heart rate and similar), and your calendar events if you turn the calendar on.
On your phone: the pairing with your brain, and data waiting to be sent to the brain.
Nowhere else, except for the requests to services described below, which are needed to answer you.

What leaves your brain, and why

Your brain sends a request to an outside service only to do something you asked for or turned on. Each request goes directly from your brain to that service.

These services process the data under their own terms for developers. Bobi does not sell your data, does not show ads, and does not use any tracking or analytics service.

Setting up and updating your brain downloads software and models (from GitHub and Hugging Face). These downloads send nothing about you.

What the Bobi team can see

So the Bobi team can keep your brain working while you test it, your brain answers a status check from the Bobi team over your private network. It contains only numbers and states: whether the brain is running, its software version, how many conversations and errors it had per day (the kind of error, never its content), its storage space, and how much the outside services cost that month. It contains no words from your conversations, no names, and no places.

When you ask Bobi to send the Bobi team feedback, Bobi shows you the exact text first, and sends it only after you confirm. That text, and the conversation it refers to if you choose to include it, is what the Bobi team reads.

The Bobi team has administrator access to the mini PC in order to install and update it. We will not open your data without your permission. If something breaks and looking is needed, we will ask you first.

Your choices

Every phone feature (location, motion, Health, calendar, microphone) is off until you turn it on, and can be turned off in Bobi's settings or in iOS Settings at any time.
You can see and edit what Bobi remembers about you in the app.
Deleting your data: ask Bobi or the Bobi team to erase your brain. Everything on it is deleted, and the mini PC is wiped when you return it or end the test. Deleting the Bobi app removes what is on your phone. Requests already sent to the services above are kept only as those services' terms describe.

Children

Bobi is not intended for anyone under 16.
